Legislative Impact
True Charity promotes policy that supports the interests of the poor and the organizations that serve them. While we don’t align ourselves with a political party, we do align ourselves with shared values that drive our political advocacy.
OUR POLICY PRIORITIES
Make life affordable:
We oppose policies at all levels of government that serve special interests and artificially raise the cost of living. This includes practices like restrictive zoning, protectionism, and irresponsible government spending.
Minimize barriers to enterprise:
We resist the numerous barriers to employment or starting a business for less-connected workers. Many are promoted by existing businesses and can include excessive occupational licensing requirements, regulatory capture, and labor laws that discourage hiring.
Eliminate perverse incentives:
Some government programs discourage work, savings, marriage, and other elements of a flourishing life. We oppose these incentives where we find them.
Strengthen civil society:
Church, nonprofit, and civic groups are the backbone of effective charity. We support policies that protect their ability to operate without unreasonable constraints.
All of our advocacy falls within the legally prescribed limits for a 501(c)(3) or a house of worship (i.e. all of the advocacy we do on your behalf is what you would legally be allowed to do yourself).
